Mouton Cadet Celebrates La Fête
Nationale de France
Leading Bordeaux Producer
Sponsors Bastille Day Celebrations throughout
U.S.
Canandaigua,
NY (July 5, 2007) - Mouton Cadet,
the world's leading branded Bordeaux wine,
is bringing a taste of France to America
by supporting Bastille Day events throughout
the United States. To boost the success
of these events and to encourage Americans
to experience the vibrant French culture,
Mouton Cadet has donated approximately 1,800
bottles worth more than $16,000 to Bastille
Day celebrations in 11 participating cities.
Bastille Day is the French national holiday,
celebrated on July 14th each year.
In France, it is officially called "Fête
Nationale", or more commonly "quatorze
juillet" (14th of July). It commemorates
the storming of the Bastille during the
French Revolution on July 14th, 1789. This
historical event is seen as a symbol of
the fall of tyranny and the birth of democracy
in France, in many ways similar to the U.S.
celebration of Independence Day (July 4th).
"We have more than 200 years of shared
history with the French," said Bethany
DiSanto, Director of Marketing for North
Lake Wines, the U.S. importer of Mouton
Cadet. "We've exchanged ideas and shared
culture. The French gave us the Statue of
Liberty, the Louisiana Purchase, and Catherine
Deneuve. We gave them F. Scott Fitzgerald,
Josephine Baker, and Jerry Lewis. Bastille
Day is not just a French holiday, but a
celebration of freedom for all. In Liberty,
Equality, and Fraternity we raise a glass
of Mouton Cadet and toast our French brothers
and sisters."
